An Artbus Digital I/O board and Max/MSP are used to translate the samples in an audio file into commands for salvaged circuit boards. The boards click between one and eight relays in response to the values of each eight bit sample. The inefficiencies of the system mean the information in the audio file can never be communicated as the story that was recorded. The same audio file that sounds like a voice telling a story when decoded through the appropriate converter becomes rhythms and textures.~Joseph Kramer
